Terms of Service

By using Kapshul, you agree to these terms:

Medical Disclaimer

1. Kapshul is a medication tracking tool designed to help you manage your medications. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
2. You are responsible for the accuracy of the medication information you enter.
3. Kapshul does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
4. Always consult with your healthcare provider before making changes to your medication regimen.

Account & Eligibility

5. You must be at least 13 years old to create a Kapshul account. If you are under 18, you confirm you have parental consent to use this app.
6. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID used to sign in to Kapshul.

Subscriptions & Billing

7. Kapshul offers free and paid subscription tiers:
   • Free: Track up to 2 medications with core features
   • Personal ($2.99/month or $30/year): Unlimited medications, refill reminders, extended history, and more
8. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
9. Your Apple ID account will be charged at confirmation of purchase and upon each renewal.
10. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings.
11. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies. We cannot process refunds directly.
12. If your subscription expires or is cancelled, your account will revert to the Free tier. Your data will be retained but access to premium features will be restricted.

AI-Powered Features

13. Kapshul offers AI-powered prescription scanning that uses cloud-based image analysis to extract medication details from prescription labels.
14. AI features do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. You are responsible for verifying all extracted information before saving.
15. Prescription photos are sent securely to our cloud processing service, analyzed in memory, and are not stored on external servers beyond the processing session. No user data is used for AI model training.
16. AI features require an active internet connection and may be limited to paid subscription tiers.

Acceptable Use

17. You agree not to misuse Kapshul, including but not limited to:
    • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems
    • Using the app for any unlawful purpose
    • Interfering with other users' use of the app

Termination

18. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.
19. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Changes to Terms

20. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
21. We will notify you of material changes to these terms via the app or email.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

Data We Collect — On Your Device

1. Your medication data is stored securely on your device and in your iCloud account (if enabled).
2. Kapshul stores medication schedules, dose information, and tracking history.
3. This data is encrypted and stored securely on your device.
4. If you enable iCloud backup, your data is also encrypted in transit and at rest.
5. We never have access to your medication or health data — it stays on your devices.

Data We Collect — On Our Servers

6. When you sign in with Apple, we store limited account information on our servers:
   • Your Apple user identifier
   • Your email address (may be Apple's relay address if you chose to hide your email)
   • Your subscription tier and status
   • Subscription expiry date
   • Account creation and last sign-in dates
7. We store subscription event logs (purchases, renewals, cancellations) for account management and support purposes.
8. We do NOT store your medication data, schedules, or health information on our servers. This data remains on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

AI Processing

9. When you use AI-powered prescription scanning, your prescription photo is securely transmitted to our cloud processing service (Google Gemini Vision API via our Firebase Cloud Function).
10. The image is analyzed in memory to extract medication details. It is not stored on external servers beyond the processing session.
11. No prescription images or extracted data are used to train AI models.
12. AI processing requires an active internet connection. If you do not use the prescription scanning feature, no image data is transmitted.

How We Use Your Data

13. Account data is used to:
    • Verify your subscription status
    • Enable you to restore purchases on new devices
    • Provide customer support
    • Send important service notifications (e.g., subscription expiry)
14. We collect minimal analytics data to improve the app experience.
15. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

16. We use the following third-party services:
    • Apple: For Sign-In authentication and subscription payment processing
    • Firebase (Google): For secure account data storage and authentication
    • Google Gemini: For AI-powered prescription image analysis (via our Firebase Cloud Function)
    • iCloud: For your personal device backup (if enabled by you)
17. We do not sell or share your personal health information with third parties.
18. Our third-party service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Data Retention

19. Account data is retained while your account is active.
20. Subscription event logs are retained indefinitely for support and audit purposes.
21. If you delete your account, your account data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Medication data on your device is deleted immediately.
22. If your subscription lapses, your account data is retained so you can reactivate your subscription without losing your account history.

Your Rights

23. You can delete your data at any time through the app settings.
24. You can request a copy of your account data by contacting support@kapshul.com.
25. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting support@kapshul.com or through the app settings.
26. If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectify, and port your data.

Security

27. We use Apple Sign-In to authenticate your account securely without storing your password.
28. Account data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (TLS).
29. Data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest.
